Following the sale of TGA Sciences, Inc. to Absorption Systems in November, 2017, Mr. Settles role at the company remained as a Site Director and Business Development position which included past responsibilities as well as transition responsibilities to the new company entity. Introducing Absorption Systems to the Boston Biotechnology community and being present to ensure that the Medford facility experienced no issues during the transition.

Mr. Settles is the Founder of TGA Sciences, Inc., a contract R&D Laboratory located just outside of Boston, MA. Mr. Settles started the company in 1996 after being employed in the Biotechnology sector for approximately 15 years. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Settles was with ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation, serving as an integral part of the Product Development Department for the company’s AllerVax pipeline. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Settles was employed by T-Cell Diagnostics, Inc. as a Senior Associate Scientist where he was involved with the development, validation and product launches of Immunoassay kits. Previous to that, Mr. Settles was also employed by the New England Medical Center and Damon Biotech, Inc. serving in various supervisory roles in the Hematology/Oncology Department and manufacturing laboratories, respectively. Senior Development Associate in the Product Development Department. Responsibilities include immunoassay development for ELISA's used in clinical trials; SOP documentation for all clinical trial related techniques; data analysis and presentation using statistical software; data summaries and reports for internal use or for submission to the FDA; interaction with CRO's and CRL's for the purpose of technology transfer; and supervision of staff.

Senior Associate Scientist of Technical Support and Clinical Trials in the Diagnostic R&D department. The position required trouble-shooting technical aspects of immunoassay development, as well as acquiring outside sources for serum samples to aid in the determination of assay utility. This aspect of the job continued as a consultant position after leaving to work for Immulogic.

Research Assistant in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The position included working on two separate projects: Murine Viral Leukemogenesis and Autoimmunity in AIDS. This work included experience in the following techniques: tissue culture, hybridoma technology, protein purification, affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE, Western blots, ELISA's, RIA's, proliferation assays, and preparation of cells for FACS analysis.
