I am a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Crowell & Moring, LLP. My practice focuses on federal litigation, investigations, and enforcement actions. I have significant experience with the False Claims Act (FCA), with a particular emphasis on health care fraud.Before rejoining Crowell, I served as a Trial Attorney with the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice (DOJ), where my work involved investigating and prosecuting FCA matters. During my time at DOJ, I obtained judgments totaling hundreds of millions of dollars and was involved in the settlement of numerous false claims cases of similar magnitude. I served in a variety of roles in these cases, ranging from first-chair trial attorney to lead investigator.More specifically, I successfully tried a high-profile case against individuals charged with violating the FCA and the Anti-Kickback Statute that resulted in a $117 million judgment. I also spearheaded DOJ initiatives targeting fraud in the laboratory industry, fraud in skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehabilitation facilities, and fraud committed by large banks that underwrote Department of Housing and Urban Development backed loans. Prior to my government service, I was an associate at a leading white collar criminal defense law firm, where I was a member of the defense team that represented a global retailer in one of the largest Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations ever conducted.I received my J.D. from Cornell Law School. While at Cornell, I participated in the Cornell Death Penalty Project and helped brief a case argued before the U.S. Supreme Court.Finally, in a previous life, I owned my own music label representing more than 100 artists located across the globe. In that role, I got travel the country, live like (or at least near) a rock star, and watch some of the greatest musicians of our time hone their craft.
