I am an experienced Local Government executive with more than 23 years of experience in leadership, management and urban planning. I am a believer in the role and capacity of local government to make the lives of the community better. My career in local government began as a graduate town planner and over time I came to realise that urban or town planning strategies only make a difference when they are implemented and that requires the collective commitment of the whole Council and its stakeholdersFor this reason, I am motivated by aligning land use planning strategies with the strategy and objectives of the organisation and building the capacity of the organisation to deliver.Through my time in land use planning I have developed specialist skills in:• growth area planning• developer contributions• airport planning and safeguarding • community facility planning and delivery• planning and infrastructure coordinationI am also a passionate advocate for economic development that creates conditions for business growth and investment whilst creating local jobs for local people. Good planning and economic development are intrinsically linked, and our goal should be the local creation not just of jobs but careers. I have a reputation of being an innovative and independent thinker with highly developed problem-solving skills and take pride in challenging the status quo and in applying critical analysis and political acumen to organisational challenges.
