Deck Department Head. Planned and conducted over 100 dangerous underway replenishments in less than two years without a single accident, incident nor injury. Normal number of replenishments for a ship of an aircraft carrier's size was only 50. Most of the replenishments mentioned occurred during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm (Gulf War I).

Trained, motivated and supervised up to 365 men in the maintenance, operation, preservation and repair of all engineering systems and superstructure areas. Became the only Chief Engineer EVER to pass the Operational Propulsion Plant Examination on the USS CANISTEO.

Discovered and corrected a problem that had hindered computer communication between our detachment and the office of the Chief of Naval Education and Training. Coordinated the transfer of a much-needed Yard Tug boat to the school from the recommissioning of an old Navy Tug, saving taxpayers and the State of California close to $200,000.

Veteran of the Persian Gulf Hostage Crisis and the Multi-National Peace-Keeping Force, Beirut. Trained, motivated, managed and directed over 170 Battleship engineers to the completion of an 11-month, 180,000 mile deployment without a single major breakdown of its propulsion machinery.

Planned and conducted an entire Mediterranean deployment, as well as one of the first transit of the Suez Canal by a U.S. Naval ship in over four years. My operational report regarding navigating the canal was established by 6th Fleet as the standard reference for all subsequent transits by U.S. Navy ships. At one point, during the illness of the ship's Operations Officer, I helped develop, schedule and implement an entire month's underway replenishment for the entire U.S. 6th Fleet.

Responsible for planning and executing the Navigation of the U.S. Sixth Fleet's Logistical Coordination ship. At one time, during the illness of the Operations Officer, I helped set up and execute an entire month's underway replenishment cycle for the entire Fleet, in coordination with our ship's Supply Officer. No rendezvous was ever missed, no supply requisition was ever not delivered.
