At ExactET Systems we use SmartET cellular IoT controller and proprietary weather data with real-time precipitation calculations to water based on Evapotransporation (ET) Rates. We own and maintain our own Campbell Scientific weather stations throughout Canada so we have data we can trust. We also conduct site assessments of the irrigation system and components to determine precipitation rates and infiltration rates to determine an accurate runtime for each zone. We take into account all microclimates using a k-factor calculation to determine our irrigation schedule. Based on these instruments we determine how much moisture is lost throughout the day and replenish the soil when we meet the trigger point. By calculating precipitation rate, infiltration rate, root depth and other factors we can accurately water based on the plants requirements. By measuring solar intensity, wind, temperature, precipitation amounts, and following best irrigation practices with the SmartET control system we can dynamically help our environment by producing healthy landscape with efficient watering practices. We have proven a decrease of 40% in our client's irrigation water usage.
