This position is a subcontract through Navarro Research and Engineering to the Naval Nuclear Laboratory at the Bettis-Pittsburgh site. I am engaged in an exciting project focused on designing and analyzing the next generation of radiological shipping containers for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. As a Mechanical Engineer at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, I am responsible for evaluating designs, conducting structural analyses, and developing specifications for these containers and their support equipment. My role encompasses sponsoring test programs, creating precise engineering drawings, and ensuring adherence to stringent alignment and tolerance standards. Leveraging my expertise in mechanical design and structural analysis, I significantly contribute to the safety and reliability of our naval nuclear propulsion systems.

Train part time to support Soldiers during combat missions by constructing bridges, clearing barriers, and detecting and avoiding hazards like mines. As an Army engineer I provide expertise, devise creative engineering solutions, and build fighting positions. State side, my role includes providing natural disaster relief, search and extraction, as well as ensuring public safety during large gatherings or events when activated.

Overall, the focus of my role is on the complete lifecycle of radiation detectors, from design and fabrication to repair and continuous improvement. My main responsibilities involve creating 2D and 3D CAD files of radiation detectors and their components. This includes designing test fixtures and tooling for detector manufacturing. The role also encompasses purchasing of mechanical components, inventory, conducting experiments to enhance tooling and testing, and designing both short-term and long-term repairs for various mechanical systems. Additional tasks involve occasional soldering, machining parts, and coding in Julia for data analysis.

At the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, I designed, manufactured, and assembled cutting edge prototypes. Said prototypes work to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. I was involved in computer aided design, machining (milling, lathe work, 3D printing, water jetting, laser cutting, etc.), and assembling of the prototypes. Furthermore, I was involved in projects involving Amazon as well as the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. Note I worked full time at HERL utilizing a Co-Op program, then worked part time my last year of my undergraduate degree, and finally transitioned to a full time federal employee.

Lifeware Labs is a startup company that rose from Carnegie Mellon University. Lifeware Labs is working to develop a wearable and stretchable patch that is capable to accurately monitor the user's vitals. The patch is totally stretchable and able to conform to the user's body. I worked as a research and development engineer that manufactures patch prototypes and assists in improving the design of the product.

During this research experience I also learned immunolabeling, microscopy, as well as many basic cellular assays.
