Help supervise, organize and train a 15+ person team of Reserve Deputies. The Reserve unit supplements the Sheriff's office where needed in patrol, jail, court house, civil and other duties. The team is made up of Iowa State Certified Reserve Officers who volunteer their time in service to the community. The reserve also supplements other agencies and performs security functions at special events, sporting events and businesses when requested.

The Muscatine facility manufactures all class 3 pallet trucks from hand powered pallet jacks to stand up rider pallet trucks with up to 8000 pound capacity. Trapeze designs and builds an automated vehicle location system primarily for government entities including mass transit, fire and public safety. The system tracks vehicle location and monitors vehicle discretes. The information obtained through our system is constantly relayed via radio to a base facility. My responsibilities include:Sole designer of all mechanical aspects of our base products which is a custom packaged on-board computer and fixed site electronic message boards. I utilize 3D cad technology in most of my design work. Create custom mounting hardware for computer and related equipment on vehicles. Create sign installation hardware and provide strength and wind load calculations. Support installation drawing and documentation for our customers. Production Engineering responsibilities include new workspace layout, production line tool procurement, all fixtures and assembly aids most of which I built in my fabrication shop at home.

Performed law enforcement duties for the city of West Branch as a reserve police officer

Walker Manufacturing produced the largest self-propelled agricultural sprayer on the market at the time. As Lead Mechanical Engineer I was involved in all aspects of the product and all aspects of manufacturing. This was a very small company which required many responsibilities to be placed on engineering. Redesigned the electrical harness and frame structure to fix deficiencies. Redesigned the front legs and steering geometry to better align at different track widths. Redesigned the frame and supporting structures to handle larger (1200 gallon) product tank. Designed new, larger hydraulic tank to improve cooling efficiency. Created a complete bill of material for entire sprayer where none had existed prior. Supported suppliers in frame and part fabrication.Supported all production and assembly aspects at Walker facility in Lisbon. Attended farm shows to demonstrate product and present to potential customers.Left due to plant closure.

Centro is a custom rotational molder of plastic. Some of their primary customers are John Deere, Caterpillar, Tennant, Rug Doctor, and Toro. Project Engineers worked side by side with customers on part design to optimize performance and manufacturability. All aspects of design, manufacturability, tooling, trim and quality were my responsibility. I worked extensively with John Deere and Caterpillar on many large scale projects. Supported numerous customers and projects at one time (in excess of 30 at times).Designed tooling and fixtures for projects.Broke new ground in processes, materials, fixtures and trim methods.Wrote all project related work instructions for production.Designed customer products.Supervised technical staff in prototype part functions including molding, fixture builds, and production first runs.Supported off site divisions of Centro.Provided technical support to other Project Engineers.

Deflecta-Shield designed and manufactured automotive aftermarket accessories like bug shields, spoilers, ground effect parts, tail light covers, etc... I worked at their Corydon Iowa facility as a Mechanical Engineer. New product design was my primary function but I wore many hats while at Deflecta-Shield. Manufacturing engineering support was another function I had as well as technical customer assistance when installation trouble shooting was in order. I left Deflecta-Shield after my marriage. My new wife wanted to live in the Iowa City area.

Junge Controls manufactured an agricultural chemical measuring and dispensing system for agricultural spraying companies. As Production Engineer, I supervised 4 employees in all facets of production which included frame fabrication, valve and piping assembly, electrical panel assembly, and inventory control. I performed field service and trouble shooting on all products both in house and at installed sites throughout the Midwest.
