Lead Mechanical EngineerWalker Manufacturing Incorporated Aug 2000 - Apr 2001Walker Manufacturing produced the largest self-propelled agricultural sprayer on the market at the time. As Lead Mechanical Engineer I was involved in all aspects of the product and all aspects of manufacturing. This was a very small company which required many responsibilities to be placed on engineering. Redesigned the electrical harness and frame structure to fix deficiencies. Redesigned the front legs and steering geometry to better align at different track widths. Redesigned the frame and supporting structures to handle larger (1200 gallon) product tank. Designed new, larger hydraulic tank to improve cooling efficiency. Created a complete bill of material for entire sprayer where none had existed prior. Supported suppliers in frame and part fabrication.Supported all production and assembly aspects at Walker facility in Lisbon. Attended farm shows to demonstrate product and present to potential customers.Left due to plant closure.

I worked at their Corydon Iowa facility as a Mechanical Engineer. New product design was my primary function but I wore many hats while at Deflecta-Shield. Manufacturing engineering support was another function I had as well as technical customer assistance when installation trouble shooting was in order. I left Deflecta-Shield after my marriage. My new wife wanted to live in the Iowa City area.
