Starting as a tutor for private summer schools and then moving on to tutoring in both public and private settings; I have assisted students in every grade level including up to the college freshman level. Helping others understand and make connections is very rewarding and is something I wish to continue to do wherever my career takes me.Coming from a restaurant owning family and without a doubt being a participant; hard work, due diligence, and last minute shift coverings are very familiar. I have worked with my family for years performing tasks from busing tables, cleaning floors, to serving food, and drinks (not all at the same time of course). Sweaty uniforms, sore feet, and long hours will be the worst I remember, but responsibility, motivation, patience, and customer service are just some of the skills I picked up along the way. Other than my father's passion for the kitchen that was passed down to me, was his love for the environment. Coming from the city, I have tried to enjoy both, the great outdoors and the concrete jungle. Being introduced to countless national parks and nature retreats would be enough to convince many to be an environmentalist, but with my exposure to wildlife and ecosystem management, it was forever solidified. Conservation, protection and ensuring the safety of both wildlife and their ecosystems are morals instilled into me and are the guiding reasons why I had chosen to study environmental science at Boston University. While studying our planet, a love for cartography, imagery, and technology was formed. My love and curiosity were nurtured with a Masters Degree in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Sciences. Certainly a milestone that has opened many opportunities for me. Including but not limited to the semester I had teaching as Northeastern University. While teaching part time, another attractive opportunity came along; working for the EPA. Not one to be shy of the unknown, I accepted the challenge when the time came. Serving the public and working for the federal government continues to be a rewarding and life changing duty. I hope to continue protecting human health and the environment for years to come!
