I have responsibility for the P&L and strategy for the £40M/annum portfolio of bespoke services and the development of profitable complex managed service solutions in the Defence & Government Sector, primarily focused on solutions for the more sensitive Defence & Government communities in both the UK and Deployed space.

Responsible for Winning and Delivering the Technical, Commercial and Financial Solutions for the BT Contribution to the Assessment Phase of the MOD CIPHER Programme. This is an MOD led Pan Government procurement for Information Assurance Components. Responsible for the Extension of the Defence Learning Platform service to enable cost effective delivery of media rich learning material through the Content Delivery Services.I undertook a programme to assess and manage the technical, commercial and financial impact of BT’s Next Generation Networks (21CN Programme) on GS UK’s top 40 Managed Service ContractsSolutions Architect for the National Air Traffic Control System (NATS) DaVinci Programme delivering a safety critical WAN platform to NATS.

Responsible for managing the development of the Technical Solution to deliver the 5 to 7 year extension to the DFTS contract driving out savings to the customer, simplifying the service delivery, whilst providing additional functionality and features to support MOD’s DII and GII programmes. Responsible for ensuring continuity and continuous engineering between from project inception liaising directly with the customer to delivery, and as Business Development manager for new product/service development.Technical Design Authority with design responsibility for IP WAN, and Network management systems. .

Cardiff

I was involved in a wide and diverse number of business applications, systems and technologies and in many roles.o Developed the broadband laboratories at Cardiff Systems Engineering Centre;o Project Leader and Lead Designer for a number of projects providing both technical consultancy and management to the projects;o System Design Authority for the billing system for the Concert Card (European Calling Card) providing multi lingual, multi currency and multi tax regime invoicing & billing of calling card calls to a commercial credit card;o Project Manager of an Enterprise Systems Management Framework Project that delivered an SNMP trap aggregation system;o Business Analysis, Feasibility Study and Requirements Definition projects including a FeatureNet(Centrex) Switch Data Audit Tool and an automated FeatureNet Product Catalogue;o Developed the business requirements for the FeatureNet Billing systems;o Redesign of the technical architecture of the service management systems which supported FeatureNet; ando Project Manager for the Field Terminal Server Team and Field Access Interface System (FAIS) Teams.

Cwmbran

During my time at BNR I contributed to several projects, either as a team leader or as a technical specialist. As a Team Leader with a team 8 software and hardware engineers I completed the development of the Network 300 PDMX Network Manager for the control, monitoring and configuration of remotely located network elements.

Cardiff

Responsible for the design and development of software, interfacing several banking systems with Chemical Bank’s implementation of Logica’s Fastwire product. This enabled a significant reduction in the cost of delivering SWIFT(banking) and telex messages world-wide.

Christchurch And Portsmouth

Developing the Ptarmigan Packet switched network testing providing the ability to stress, monitor and analyse Ptarmigan X.25 packet switched network. I undertook the subsystem design and development of the X.25 Level 2 software from the CCITT(ITU-T) specification. I Designed and developed enhancements and fault corrections for the ship navigation and stabilisation software for Royal Navy Vessels.

Fleet

I designed and developed the Ships Model, inter processor communications software, main control & scheduler activities and the MMI for a Ship Simulator. I was responsible for the design and development of gas production monitoring software for Shells Brent Alpha production platform. I investigated the encoding of tape based data and developed a data retrieval system for offshore oil and gas production platforms.

Woking

I completed the development of a Gunnery Target Tank Simulator. I undertook the low level design and development of several sub-systems comprising a Telemetry Data Capture system for the Royal Artillery Range Hebrides. I designed a fire & gas detection and emergency shutdown system for a North Sea oil and gas production platform.

Frimley

I was responsible for modifications to the data capture & monitoring software used during field trials of a Radar guided weapon system.
