Filmmaker Michael Sládek makes original feature-length films, shorts and series, as well as client-generated commercials, branded content, industrials, web series, and music videos. He also freelances as a director, writer, editor, producer, and creative consultant. Made under his Brooklyn-based Plug Ugly Films banner, his original feature length films include CON ARTIST (New Yorker Films, The Orchard), BAM150 (Cinema Guild), and DEVILS ARE DREAMING (Dances With Films Jury Award). His original shorts include ALL AGAINST THE SEA (Woodstock Film Festival) and WE LIVE ON YOUR STREET (Slamdance Film Festival Anarchy & Jury Awards). He’s a 2013 Acker Award recipient for filmmaking. Currently serving as the New York Consultant for SAGindie, Michael also teaches in the film department at Wagner College. He’s worked full-time for Tribeca Film Festival, MTV News, WCTV, for author Jamaica Kincaid, for ad agency Jacobs & Gerber, as a freelance journalist, as a punk band manager, and a marketing designer. A SAG-AFTRA member and longtime theater actor and director, Michael is originally from Denver, CO and Southern California, and he studied theater at Orange Coast College and UCLA.
