Department chair for civil litigation department which included drafting pleadings, pre-trial motions, summary judgment motions and propounding and contesting discovery. Acted as primary counsel in trial, settlement conferences and appeals. Other responsibilities included working with members of the firm's other departments to provide advice on non-litigation matters; including claim avoidance, risk management, damage control and settlement negotiations. Primary cases were in the areas of: wage/hour violations, wrongful discharge, discrimination (i.e. Title VII, FEHA), business litigation and general contract disputes in front of state and federal courts. Presented on numerous human resource issues and employment law trends to employer organizations.
