I am a scientist with a singular passion: studying complex reactions in living cells and then visualizing those reactions under the microscope! I am an expert in quantitative imaging and genetics with 10 years of experience in the fields of DNA repair, damage signaling, and cellular aging research. I am driven by science that takes the strange and wonderful world of life and brings it to a level where it can be interrogated, explained, and used to develop tools and therapeutics that can make a real difference in human lives, today.During my research career, I was driven by a single question: how does the cell know what to do with a given DNA structure, and how do those structures get maintained, repaired, and moved around the nucleus? In exploring that question, I became the author of a number of peer-reviewed publications on the topics of homologous recombination, nuclear organization, telomerase homeostasis, and the cell cycle, was an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellow, raising over $150K in funding. I like to follow the science wherever it takes me and have so far had the pleasure of working in fields as diverse as yeast genetics, biophysics, bioinformatics, human aging, and cancer. Following my love of imaging, I became Applications Manager for Leica Microsystem's premiere spatial biology solution, Cell DIVE, leveraging my expertise in microscopy to bring the power multiplexed imaging to as many scientists as possible. By going beyond the limitations of traditional microscopy, we are able to help researchers probe dozens of biomarkers in human tissue to address both fundamental human biology, and develop next-generation treatments for cancer.
