My role as Programs Manager involved managing a team of five who were identifying schools in Jinja district to be involved in our tree planting projects. I liaised with the schools’ administration to schedule climate and tree planting education and facilitating these education sessions. I then oversaw the establishment of tree nurseries and monitored the progress of the projects. When ready, I managed my team to transplant the trees within the schools’ compounds and encouraged students and teachers to take some and plant them within their communities. With the aim of improving tree coverage and climate adaptation in Uganda. I then continued to monitor the progress of the trees, replacing those not doing well and inputting the tree planting data into excel and a dedicated app.

My role as Community Coordinator involved identifying underprivileged villages and offering them alternative income streams through livestock ownership. I also conducted education sessions on land rights and how to better take care of their children to improve their general well-being and community development.

My role as Community Development Officer involved training mothers and fathers on how to become more involved in their children’s early childhood development (ECD). I helped to create play centers in underprivileged communities where we went on to train mothers in activities beneficial to ECD such as educational games, nutritional information, and the importance of involving disabled children in the program. We closely monitored their progress, and the program became so popular we involved and trained the VHTs to help us monitor and further train new parents. I was responsible for collecting, monitoring and evaluation data and writing daily reports on the program’s activities.

My role as Teacher / Social Worker involved counselling street and deprived children with the aim of resettling them with family members. I helped create awareness of the organization within the community and encouraged those who could benefit from it to use the facilities such as basic educational sessions, breakfast and lunch, hygiene facilities and games. I liaised with and counselled parents on how to reconcile with their children and helped them with small income generating projects so that they could better support their children.
