The Communications and Programs Manager is responsible for providing professional communications and operational support to the Managing Director related to CBI’s primary strategic communications initiative, GMO Answers, as well as expanding CBI’s social media and traditional media engagement. Develop and manage an effective social media program for CBI, monitoring and promoting 3rd party content, including GMO Answers, as well as creating and promoting original content to support CBI’s overall mission of increasing acceptance of biotechnology in agriculture.Work with communications team to draft and/or edit press releases, respond to media inquiries, develop relationships with journalists, and staff press interviews.Write bi-weekly newsletter for key contacts and stakeholders, and monthly news summary for GMO Answers website. Author guest columns and blog posts for Forbes.com and Biotech-Now blog site.Work with the Ketchum PR staff to manage the GMO Answers question and answer process, work with GMO Answers experts, reviewing and routing content to the GMO Answers Steering Committee, and drafting Community Manager answers and posts for the GMO Answers website.Work with core audiences: industry, agriculture, food and nutrition, academic researchers, to effectively meet mutual communications goalsActively recruit new subject matter experts for the GMO Answers websiteStaff GMO Answers events and booths nationwide. Work closely with three CBI committee, including Executive Board, Steering Committee, and GMO Answers Management Committess, including crafting agendas, organizing meetings, recording minutes, preparing summary and/or action items from meetings.
