Michael Stivala is the President & CEO of Suburban Propane Partners, L.P., a nationwide distributor of propane, fuel oil and related products and services, as well as a marketer of natural gas and electricity, with a legacy of more than 90 years of innovation, growth and quality service. Suburban Propane is a New York Stock Exchange listed limited partnership (ticker: SPH) headquartered in Whippany, NJ. In December 2021, Michael was honored by NJ BIZ on their Power Top 50 CEOs list in NJ by the editors for the second consecutive year.In January 2020, Michael became a Member of the NJ Region Council of the American Red Cross and, in March 2020, he joined the 40 Member Global Industry Council of the World LPG Association. In October 2020, Michael joined the Board of Directors of Oberon Fuels and, in March 2022, he joined the Board of Directors of Independence Hydrogen.In his more than 20 years with the company, Michael has brought clear strategic vision; instilled a safety first mentality in protecting employees and serving the nearly 1.0 million customers across the company’s 42 state footprint; and has been an outspoken advocate for the “green” qualities of propane as a bridge to a sustainable energy future. Michael has made strong commitments to Suburban Propane’s involvement in the local communities, and its national partnership with the American Red Cross under the company’s SuburbanCares initiatives. He has also spearheaded Suburban Propane’s commitment to hiring, training and providing assistance to the Military Veterans community through the company’s “Heroes Hired Here” initiatives. His keen vision led to a recent brand refresh and creation of the Three Pillars of the Suburban Propane Experience: the Suburban Commitment to Excellence, SuburbanCares, and Go Green with Suburban Propane. This brand refresh elevates the focus of Suburban Propane’s many strengths in serving their customers, commitment to their employees and the communities they serve and the sustainability of propane as a clean American energy source. Recently, Michael threw out the first pitch at the season opener for the Baltimore Orioles v. the New York Yankees. Michael has been featured in multiple media outlets for his industry expertise and commitment to giving back to the local communities; including Fox Business News, CNBC, Cheddar TV, Bloomberg, NewsMax, Wall Street Journal, among others. Additionally, Michael has given the annual keynote speech at the Jersey City Fire & Police 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive co-hosted with the American Red Cross.
