Business Team Leader (BTL) understands site visions and how their business creates value. BTL drives overall business improvement. Responsible for Environmental/Health/Safety and Economic performance of Business. BTL is the supervisor of a process and asset engineer for their respective area and is responsible for their performance and developement. The BTL is a leader within Flint Hills Resources - Pine Bend Refinery and must apply concepts from Principle Based management to create long term value and advance the competitive position of Pine Bend Refinery.

As a System Optimization Engineer, you have a key role within the Process Control Capability responsible for oil flow optimization and control system improvements within your system. Develop the optimization strategies for multiple refinery units in your assigned system with goal of maximizing refinery profitability against valid constraints. Clearly communicate the resulting optimization strategies to the production team and assist as needed in implementation. Ownership of Daily Objectives in your assigned refinery system with goal of advancing them from written/manual objectives to automated/control strategies. Primary production team contact for issues related to optimization, tactical economic POV, and control/operation strategies. Provide system capability calls and be an active participant in the daily, weekly, and monthly oil flow planning process. Drive utilization of new and existing control systems. Become a subject matter expert on control strategies within your assigned system and how to best apply advanced control methods to meet process/economic objectives. Post-audit the results and iterate as needed with goal of advancing from manual control to automated systems. Oversight unit performance, including alarm and control system health. Identify improvement ideas based on observed constraints and opportunities. Frame prompt economic drivers and areas of opportunity to allow other capabilities and the businesses to invest appropriately.
