I was the law clerk for the Hon. Robert D. Springstead, the Chief Judge and Circuit Court Judge. I drafted opinions and memorandums on a number of issues including including no-fault insurance, property disputes, motions to suppress, prisoner parole appeals, family and juvenile custody issues, paternity disputes, driver’s license appeals, amending criminal complaints, bond forfeitures, and arraignments, among other topics. I have also had the opportunity to work with the probate court for issues as they arise and request my assistance.

At the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office I wrote trial briefs and drafted legal memorandums on a variety of criminal law issues including Terry stops, Daubert motions, and confrontation clause forfeiture by wrongdoing, among others. I also reviewed warrant requests and preliminarily authorized charges against suspects, and scored sentencing guidelines against defendants.I also had the opportunity to appear on the record in both District Court and in Juvenile hearings. In the juvenile hearings I would manage a weekly docket, review case files, prepare and recommend plea offers, negotiate plea bargaining, and conduct the hearings. Additionally, I spent time in District Court and assisted in running a District Court docket.

At the Kane County State's Attorney's Office I was assigned to the Child Advocacy Center. While here, I prepared memorandums analyzing issues revolving around the prosecution of child sexual abuse crimes. This included reviewing and organizing jail tapes for use at trial, assisting in trial preparation and at trial, and attending various other court proceedings.

I first worked in the DePaul University Campus Recreation Department as an Entrance Attendant at the start of my sophomore year of college and was promoted multiple times to an Intramural Supervisor and Building Manager.As an Entrance Attendant I learned about how the facility and department ran while developing friendships with other student employees. As an Intramural Supervisor and Building Manager I was the direct supervisor for anywhere from 3 to 25 employees at a time while also being responsible for the safety of all gym patrons.This role allowed me to grow professionally and as a leader by giving me opportunities to run meetings, assist in the hiring of new student employees and the promotions of current student employees, and to learn how to identify and work potential issues before they become a problem.

At Delaney Law I was an unpaid marketing intern. My main focus was to update the social media presence for the firm and the attorney's who worked there. This allowed me to be introduced to new technology such as hoot suite and also allowed me the freedom to do a complete overhaul of the firm's Facebook presence as well as for the International Business Council, who shared the office and worked closely with the firm.
