The Engineering Duty Manager (EDM) is a full shift role, has global responsibilities for the airport infrastructure, utilities, and line management of a shift team of MAG engineering staff, supported by external contractors, on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis. The responsibilities include management of emergency response and support equipment, site services, e.g. fire fighting water, high voltage electrical network, surface water drainage containment system, domestic water and gas distribution systems, airfield lighting and ground maintenance, heating and ventilation, passenger movement equipment, baggage sortation systems, security screening equipment, fire detection systems.A shift report is produced for every 12 hour shift, detailing any incidents, events or recommendations, this is supported by regular meetings which were held with managers to discuss actions required.Close working relationships are formed with the other 24hr management functions within the airport, Terminals Duty Managers, Airfield Duty Managers, Airport Fire Service, together with external bodies such as the Emergency Services, Environment Agency and Gas/Water/Electricity supply authorities.
