Hello! My name is Michael Shen and I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. student at Cornell University. I am a graduate researcher in the S4AI and Suh Research Groups at the Cornell Computer Systems Laboratory where I am co-advised by Dr. Udit Gupta and Dr. Edward Suh. My research interests broadly encompass computer architecture and computer systems, with a focus on security and privacy as well as designing efficient systems for machine learning applications. Lately, I have been delving into the world of systems for LLM inference. I am fortunate and thankful to have my research and graduate education generously supported through the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University. At Northeastern I was a researcher at the Northeastern University Computer Architecture Research Laboratory directed under the supervision of Dr. David Kaeli where I conducted research involving the development of computer architecture simulators.Through Northeastern's co-op program, I have spent over a year within industry at Portal Instruments and Advanced Micro Devices. At Portal Instruments I developed software for their cutting-edge needle-free drug delivery device. At AMD I developed software tools for their graphics pipeline on next-generation GPU simulators.Outside of the lab and classroom, I can often be found spending time with my friends and family as well as pursuing some of my hobbies, such as playing tennis recreationally and learning musical pieces on the piano
