Software License Manager
CurrentMichael is the pioneer in setting up the Software Asset Management (SAM) capability for Shell. His key responsibilities include ensuring software license compliance and cost optimisation. He contributed significantly to the establishment of the software license management framework and fundamental for Shell, especially in the area of Oracle and SAP license management. He played a key role in the implementation and operationalization of Shell’s SAM Programme through the setup of SAM processes, SAM tools, contracts and license entitlement baseline, software deployment and cost recovery strategies. He setup and lead the Oracle and SAP SAM teams with an additional responsibility over the SAM data and tooling solutions.Michael has in-depth knowledge and experience in managing complex Oracle software licenses. He understands the Oracle LMS audit process well and have experience liaising with Oracle LMS organisation. He played a key role in strategizing and steering Shell in a number of significant Oracle contract negotiations with favourable outcome. Apart from Oracle, he has experience in managing software such as SAP and Adobe. Michael has led many Shell internal audits and remediation activities to deliver significant financial cost savings and cost avoidance. He understands the complex business and operations challenges well and is able to deliver pragmatic yet effective solutions. This includes supporting locally and supplier managed IT environment, complex joint ventures, merger acquisition and divestment. He also leads tactical and strategic discussions on deployment to various cloud platforms.Michael has excellent stakeholder management skills that allow him to deal with and influence a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders. This includes IT architects, Finance, Contract & Procurement, Legal, senior management, Joint Ventures, suppliers and software publishers. Michael has successfully raised the visibility of the importance of SAM in Shell.
