‘Jack’ Tarr is an accomplished senior executive, having developed, practised and refined extensive organisational and management skills through long and varied service in the Royal Navy, including Command of a 5,000-ton Destroyer, Chief-of-Staff to Europe’s largest naval training establishment, and Deputy Chief Executive of a nuclear submarine operating base.He has demonstrated strong leadership and communications abilities through diverse sea-going and shore appointments across the world, including combat operations in West Africa and the Gulf; his contribution to NATO operations in Afghanistan was recognised in the award of OBE. A series of demanding overseas postings to Europe and the Middle East have given him unique experience in multi-national team-building and stakeholder engagement across cultural boundaries.Since leaving the Services, his management and leadership attributes have been applied as a Project Manager on a 3-year placement with the Royal Bank of Scotland, planning and directing multi-disciplinary activities of UK/offshore technical teams for the delivery of Digital Infrastructure support to on-line and mobile banking projects. More recently, his recent engagement with Imperial College London for the delivery of a range of system upgrade projects drew considerably on his stakeholder management skills in addressing organisational and requirement, while expanding his IT project management experience to broader environments.
