Taylors Run is the wool brand and enterprise name for a 6th generation family owned grazing property in the New England Tablelands of NSW, Australia. The business comprises superfine wool Merinos, Angus beef cattle and agro-forestry enterprises. At "Taylors Run" there is a strong emphasis on sustainable agriculture and regenerative goals for the whole farm that will ensure productive land and a profitable business for future generations of land managers and owners on this property. Diversification is one of of our key strategies in long term resilience and our business has been recognised regionally and nationally with Landcare awards in Innovation in Sustainable Agriculture in 2013. We were also invited to present our business model at the ABARE (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics) conference held in Armidale, NSW in 2009. The farm has previously also been recognised nationally for Landcare and Farm Forestry and rated a mention in Charles Massey's "Call of the Reed Warbler" among numerous other publications on sustainable farming, farm ecosystems and resilience.In 2022 Michael Taylor was nominated and awarded ABC Rural Australian Farmer of the Year for his ongoing work not only building on the agroforestry enterprise on-farm but continuing to inspire and mentor other farmers to invest in more integrated farm forestry. Along with his involvement in direct wool marketing and authentication standards for the Australian wool industry.

During my final term at RMIT I commenced work with Hyder Consulting initially as a 12D operator. I was designing road alignment grades for a land development project in Doha, Qatar. I was initially employed on contract but within three months was signed up full-time as I began to work on various other projects for Hyder utilising the 12D Model surface modelling software. I moved to the Water Division and worked on a large number of urban drainage studies and schemes, water treatment plants, retarding basins, floodways, rural dams, a surge analysis study, and some general urban road resurfacing projects. My responsibilities included but were not limited to green fields design calculations, design calculation checking, tender document preparation and selection, specification writing and site inspections. I became well versed in the VicRoads Specifications and Melbourne Water Guidelines relating to water and drainage works. Other areas of experience as a water design engineer were:• Australian Rainfall and Runoff (AR&R) procedures. • Retarding basin and urban drainage calculations and design. • Modelling on water hammer or surge in a rising main using Hytran software. • RORB Rainfall and Run-off modelling software in drainage scheme projects. • Pump specification for water treatment plants and rising mains.• MicroStation, AutoCAD and 12D Model.• MUSIC storm water quality design checking software.• Earthworks design and specification.
