Michael Tehan is a mediator and non-executive director. These roles follow his retirement in 2014 from MinterEllison, a large Australian law firm, where he had been a partner for more than 20 years. Nationally accredited as a mediator, he has assisted in the resolution of numerous disputes including contractual disputes, wills and estates, defamation, professional indemnity claims and workplace related matters. He is a director of the trustee company of Rest Super, one of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds, investing more than $75 billion for nearly 2 million members.For ten years, Michael served as a director of Villa Maria Catholic Homes Ltd, a large provider of aged care, retirement living, special education and disability services, which cares for more than 5000 people each year, many on a 24/7 basis. He chaired the Board’s Quality and Compliance Committee.Among his advisory roles, he is or has been a member of the Advisory Boards of the Department of Management and Marketing and the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law, each at The University of Melbourne, and the Institute of Legal Studies at Australian Catholic University. Michael practised as a lawyer with MinterEllison for more than 25 years, including more than 20 years as a partner. He led MinterEllison's well regarded Melbourne Human Resources and Industrial Relations group, and had various management responsibilities including leadership of the firm’s relationships with several key clients. He was consistently listed as a leading lawyer in independent national and international peer guides.He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration (Vic).
