Senior Laboratory Technician - Chemistry
As a Senior Lab Tech, I performed a wide range of assigned duties according to the HMS & HSE standards, laboratory chemical hygiene plan and prescribed testing methods as set by API 10-B and Halliburton’s Global Lab Best Practices (GLBP). Keeping up to date documentation as well as continually researching new testing regulations as set by Halliburton or Local, State and Federal Agencies is a key function to this job role. The training of technical personnel is an important part of this position as well. I have provided training and assistance to Field Professional (FP) Personnel, Business Development (BD) Personnel and Associate Technical Professionals (ATPs) on all testing performed in our laboratory, lab safety regulations, testing methods and instrument operation during their training period in the laboratory. All training was performed according to HMS Standards, Halliburton’s GLBP & API Testing Specifications. Duties such as training, documentation and having an expert knowledge of all laboratory testing as well as the operation, maintenance and calibration of all and lab equipment is essential in this job. Specific Duties Include: Preparation and analysis of Cement & PE samples, Thickening Time, Ultrasonic Compressive Strength, Crush Compressive Strength, Fluid Loss, Free Water, Rheology, Static Gel Strength, Specific Gravity, Pressurized Density utilizing a Pressurize Mud Balance, Settling Tests, Atmospheric Conditioning of cement samples and biological and chemical examination of water used for jobs. I utilized iFacts (LIMS) system to create and modify test requests as well as enter data, run reports and make chemical labels. The documentation and record keeping of the previously mentioned testing, as well as maintaining the chemical inventory, labeling of all chemicals in the lab, maintaining MSDS records, maintenance and calibration of instruments and performing routine internal audits were done to ensure the laboratory is 100% compliant at all times.
Senior Chemist
As a Senior Chemist for TRA, I worked in a multi-functional environmental laboratory that required me to have a good working knowledge of the principles of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. All data collected by the lab are reported to TCEQ. The lab is accredited by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Committee (NELAC). I was fortunate to be in on the ground floor when the lab was first introduced to NELAC be a part of its very successful accreditation process. Specific Duties Include: I reviewed TCEQ Permits, performed Toxicological Analysis of plant effluents using fathead minnows and water fleas to determine effluent toxicity and determine impact on aquatic ecosystems. I cultured brine shrimp and green algae as food for the fish and water fleas. I performed Gravimetric Analysis. I performed statistical analysis of test results using statistical programs to determine lethal dosages, chronic & acute effects. I maintained control charts to track organism performance and monitor the efficiency of all 5 of TRA’s facilities in the DFW area and maintained Reference Toxicity program to ensure that our organism performance. I performed bacteriological analysis of drinking water and soil samples. I supervised and scheduled quality assurance analysis, including calibrations and maintenance on laboratory equipment, TCEQ Quality Assurance analysis (PT Testing), record keeping and Corrective Actions. I performed audits on testing and equipment to ensure laboratory meets stringent NELAC requirements. I wrote Toxicological technical reports that were sent to TCEQ for permit testing. I preformed other tests on soil, water and wastewater samples utilizing instruments such as TOC and Lachat auto analyzers, and spectrophotometers, IC, ICP, TPH, GC, GC/MS extraction and analysis, QA/QC testing and routine laboratory maintenance. I served in a leadership role and mentored new and intermediate level Biologists and Chemists in all areas of the lab.
