Simulation: Oversaw analysis teams in all areas of engine-vehicle, varying from optimization, CFD, chemical kinetic combustion, and DOE-based testing, response model fitting, and constrained optimization to goals for calibration targets to achieve fuel economy, emissions, and acceleration. Controls: Responsible for multiple ECU calibration programs. Lead the development of a bespoke low-cost open-loop lean EFI ECU architecture (software, testing, and calibration) with unique physics-based and knock abatement control strategies. Automation: Wrote MATLAB application to fully automate (closed-loop to combustion data) the test cell. Software suite enabled safe hands-off testing of multi-DOF designed-experiment-based tests to be loaded at a keystroke. Sped-up testing results by 5x and delivered extremely repeatable results. Data acquisition: Lead development, sales, design, assembly, and software of several portable highly effective combustion analyzers. Wrote and supported LabView and MATLAB post processing software paired with combustion analysis routines and rapid calibration table generation from data. Customer demos: Responsible for calibration and delivering final drive cycle fuel economy, emissions, drivability, acceleration, and top speed.
