In this role, I support the implementation of multimodal transportation projects with a focus on improving safety and increasing walking, cycling, and transit use. I manage citywide, district, and corridor visioning and action plans from planning to concept design, and dream big to create positive change in the great city of Boston, Massachusetts!

The Public Lands Transportation Fellows program provides fellowships to outstanding graduates in a transportation-related field. Organized through Montana State University's Western Transportation Institute, I'm working with the National Park Service Washington Support Office (WASO) on safety planning and policymaking in 400+ park sites across the country.

Generate high-quality photographs of excellent walks, communicating stories, and sharing insights about local walking routes.

Ensured safety of residence halls through weekly proctoring shifts, building duty shifts. and on-call assistance to situations requiring immediate intervention. Planned and executed meaningful programs for 650 residents to foster community and meet specific learning goals.

At BTD, I led and supported the re-imagining of critical bus corridors throughout the City, working with community members and regional partners to improve bus reliability along the highest-ridership and -delay routes. Further, I designed rapid-response transportation safety interventions, balancing technical engineering decisionmaking with the robust planning and engagement efforts required of successful leaders in the field.

At the SFMTA, I applied my passions for transportation safety, sustainability, and equity to technical engineering problem-solving and design to increase the comfort of getting around. I designed and managed the implementation of safety interventions in response to clusters of severe traffic collisions, I led a post-project evaluation for recent (successful, I found) traffic calming interventions, and I planned comprehensive wayfinding systems for some of the city’s most important multimodal corridors. In this role, I gained practical experience with the interplays between engineering and community planning, an intersection within which I intend to work throughout my career.

In this position, I managed transportation studies, crafted visionary plans for local and regional safety and connectivity improvements, and drafted new city policies. For example, I led the transportation component of the Glover’s Corner neighborhood planning initiative, identifying, evaluating, and gaining partner agency support for near-term projects throughout the study area. Further, I led the preparations for a public meeting on my proposed projects, including managing content development and envisioning the open-house format of the event. Because the interventions I proposed received very strong support, they were included in the final neighborhood visioning document for implementation, and funding sources for some have already been identified. In leading projects to improve the safety, sustainability, and equity of Boston’s transportation networks, I was encouraged to seek convenient and connected multimodal systems for all.

On VHB’s Land Development team, I contributed to site and transportation planning for large-scale developments. I learned the constraints and needs of these projects, as well as the interplay between planning and development in communities.

Led and taught camp groups of about 15 children (aged 4-12) with STEM + Art focus, preparing lessons and activities to engage students and provide valuable educational camp experiences. Assumed responsibility for camper safety at all times, especially during outdoor excursions and free time activities
