I successfully oversaw Compensation and Benefits for our operations in the US, Mexico and Brazil. I worked with local management and insurance carriers to evaluate/propose/implement an employee benefits package for Mexico operations. I was instrumental in moving our US medical/dental/vision program to a partial self-funded arrangement. This reduced our renewal increase from +7.8% to -.01% while also allowing the addition of 3 new region specific medical plans and enhancement of our dental plan. Projected savings (over renewal increase trend) is +$3 mil over next 3 years.

Benefits renewal/marketing negotiations: in utilizing industry contacts, I was successful in negotiating double digit increases down to low single digit without the need to modify benefits. I successfully learned the HR duties of a generalist and became the trusted HR partner for all regional operations. (both directly assigned to me and others on the team) I became the escalation path for the rest of the HR team within the US/MX/BRZ and consultant for EUR/Canada/Asia operations as special projects surfaced which were tied to M&A/International Benefits/Employee mobility and compensation/job families consideration. I was involved in the HR/Benefits Due Diligence review and negotiation for 4 M&A projects. For 3 of these M&A deals, I also supported the successful integration of their operations/culture/policies and benefits. Lastly, I was successful in receiving my ‘Professional Human Resources’ certification from HRCI.

In addition, I was regularly ‘temporarily assigned’ to client projects of other teams which were in “jeopardy”. Successfully supported the establishment of the Hays Group El Segundo office. I helped influence former clients to award broker of record to the Hays Group. I was instrumental in ensuring new clients had confidence with our consultative ‘customer first’ approach. I helped grow the benefits book of business by maintaining a very high retention rate.

Successfully earned the role of trusted advisor with clients. As such, I was regularly requested to be the point person for clients who had multiple lines of coverage with our firm. This allowed a more holistic understanding of the clients’ needs and pain points. By partnering with my counterparts for P&C/Legal/Wealth Management, I helped to ensure the appropriate types of coverage blended together correctly and didn’t create overlap or potential double coverage. I successfully helped support client growth needs along with reduction in force processes.
