He has been involved in a number of headline cases many of which may be found in the official Law Reports. He was a member of the Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Ireland for 12 years and previously of the Law Reporting Council of Ireland. He is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, CEDR and the Irish Commercial Mediators Association. He was the Irish represantative on the Litigation and Disputes Resolution Committee of the International Bar Association and was a panel member of the Solicitors Mutual Defence Fund and the Medical Protection Society. He is a member of the Law Society's panel of arbitrators, the Solicitor's Disciplinary Tribunal and the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board.He has acted in product liability class actions relating to the pharmaceutical, tobacco and chemical industries. He represented the main participants in the newspaper industry in Ireland for many years, being involved in many high profile libel actions. He has represented a variety of state and semi-state bodies, including the European Commission, the Houses of the Oireachtas, An Post, the National Lottery, Dublin Port and others. He has acted in most of the Tribunals of Inquiry in the commercial sector since the Beef Tribunal in 1991.
