Following Advanstar's purchase by UBM in 2014, I was integrated with UBM Medica's marketing team in March of 2015.New management recognized my array of skills and depth of experience immediately. Nine months after I rejoined, my boss left for new horizons. His boss needed a manager and looked to the guy standing there: me. We wanted better service from our email vendor; I found a new one. Remember the Downturn? It took our team with it, too. When my old boss rehired me, the large amount of work for now-minimal staff gave me the opportunity to design or code creative myself. I accepted the role of copywriter as part of a task-force-style marketing team. The intended assignment was promotional services for a thick portfolio of B2B properties, but circumstances thrust the team into exhibitor campaigns for Licensing Expo's final year in New York City and premiere in Las Vegas. This small airport engineering business hired me as a drafter. I had energy and aspirations, so my employers graciously let me put on a lot of hats and try to improve whatever I could touch. Ambivalent over my new art degree, I returned to what I'm best at: communication. Over these six years I began developing my core, professional combination of writing.
