My love for nature began from a young age growing up on a small bush block near Newcastle in NSW. My family ran a farm on part of the block which I was always involved in but exploring the remnant Open Eucalypt forest and Woodlands was a highlight of my childhood and where my connection to nature began.Moving into adulthood, I always took any opportunity to jump in my car and explore natural areas (National Parks and State Forests) further afield. This immersion in nature developed a deep respect and appreciation of the natural world and it was then I started dreaming about one day, working to protect it. After falling into different career paths throughout my life, it was in 2015 whilst camping in the Snowy River National Park, when I realised, I needed to change career paths to serve and protect nature and give something back to the natural systems I had always enjoyed. It was then that I gave up the safety net of my 18-year career, committing my all to learning and volunteering as much as I could in the conservation field. Three years on, I secured a job in ecological restoration at Regen Australia and have been a committed volunteer for Bush Heritage Australia. I have also committed to adding my property to the Land For Wildlife system where I am now managing my land and protecting its conservation values.I have a strong respect for Australia’s First Peoples and feel the only way to carry out such conservation is to do it alongside Traditional Owners.
