I developed an app with a React front end and C# REST API to replace a legacy ASP.NET Webforms application. This improved user efficiency by reducing time spent on page by 50%.I maintained a library of React components used across multiple apps, which improved code reuse and testability across those apps.

I developed a .NET Core REST API and WMS API to handle thousands of requests per minute from a web front end that depicted the physical location of the pipes in citywide water systems. The WMS API provided map tiles and the REST API provided time variant results data. With this combination, users can simulate water flowing through the city's pipes and watch the color coding of those pipes change to match purity levels as contaminants are added to the system.

I used a search box technique to improve an algorithm for calculating river flood statistics from quadratic time to linear time, decreasing the average runtime from 6 minutes to less than 3 minutes. This search box approach also improved the accuracy of the algorithm as it prioritized locations that were most prone to flooding. I developed a JavaScript tool for rendering thousands of shapes simultaneously to represent the flow of liquid through a water system. Users could zoom and pan on different areas of the model to see more specific water flow values, such as velocity and pressure. This tool leveraged JavaScript libraries such as Paper.js and D3.js.

I developed an open source Drupal module, which will allow researchers to submit their genetic and phenotypic data to the lab's repository. I actively participated in researching front-end and back-end technologies that may be helpful to implement on the site. I spent some time looking for an open-source GIS to replace the Google Maps API. In the process, I learned a lot about PostgreSQL and PostGIS.Almost all of the development that I did here was done within Linux, so my command line skills greatly improved.

I developed two web applications used to increase and analyze business performance. The first of these applications was a Key Performance Indicator (KPI). This KPI implemented API's and downloadable web tools to visually display the profitability of the company's current distribution of resources. The second application was intended to simplify the system that had previously been used for data entry, particularly, keeping track of the company's cash flow. This application made it easy to add, edit, and monitor the company's expenses, thus eliminating the need for many redundant Excel spreadsheets.Both of these applications ran on Node.js for their back-end and were written in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS in the front-end. They queried and manipulated data in a MySQL database. I used Bootstrap to optimize the applications so that they could be used on a device of any size.
