Screening Patients for Covid-19 Symptoms.

Currently working part-time as direct public service Covid Screener with MercyOne Medical Center in North Iowa. Although the title is Covid Screener, the position is more that of a gatekeeper, taking the temperatures of all entering the building, verbally screening for Covid symptoms, arranging for pick-ups and deliveries to specific departments or rooms, guiding visitors and patients to their scheduled appointments while assuring that pandemic-related rules and regulations are followed.

▪ Authored and taught courses covering all aspects of public disability benefits, work incentives, and asset building programs for students looking for entry-level positions into Orange County Behavioral Health Peer Support positions.▪ These included but were not limited to: Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income programs, Medicare, Medicaid the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion in California.▪ Also developed and taught Financial Literacy and Personal Financial Betterment.

I managed a consumer benefits program for a 15,000-member behavioral health non-profit organization in Southern California. This involved training approximately 1200 staff members in all facets of public and private disability benefits. I also developed and facilitated workshops for consumers and staff navigating Social Security disability income and healthcare coverage, the Affordable Care Act, State and regional benefits services and other life supports. In addition, I provided direct service to consumers when transitioning into the workplace. I wrote grant applications and was also involved in guiding the direction of the department and decision making involving the entire organization.

Provided consulting services to state agencies, local service organizations, and individual consumers on public and private benefits trends, asset building tools, policy development, and legislation.
