Traveling Maintenance Technician
Traveling Maintenance Technician
2 Month Contract position. I was able work independently after 2 days of saftey training. I troubleshot and repaired various VMC and HMC such as Brothers Drill, Kingston and Johnsford. On the Brothers Drill, I was able to get a chip conyeyor to work in automatic that had not worked since they put the machine in. I was able to do this by determining that the contactor for the motor was controlled by external output 105. I assigned an automatic signal to this output, which resulted in automatic operation. Previously, someone had to manually push the contactor in with a screwdriver.
Electrical/Electronics Technician 4
Troubleshoot and repair Albert and Ceruti printing presses, Kodak printers, and Gatherer lines. Went online and troubleshoot Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 and 500 PLCs with a laptop or remotely via desktop. Also worked with Modicon and Seimans PLCs.
Maintenance Technician
Fanuc Robots, Various VMC and HMC, Modern Furnace Troubleshooting and Repair. Steel Stamping Press Troubleshooting and Repair. My coworker Matthew Koenemann and I had a Fanuc Robot that was malfunctioning. We worked the weekend night shift, so we had to work with no support on the weekends. The robot was faulting out when it would place a part on the exit conveyor. We was able to determine that the robot was not pausing prior to releasing the part. Due to the the training that I obtained while pursuing my Robotics Certification at George Brown College, I was able to determine what program was malfunctioning. I proceeded to add a .25 second delay prior to the Call Gripper Open Command. This resulted in the robot functioning properly.Another issue that we had shortly after I started was a Stamping Machine faulting out. This was the result of a hydraulic overpressure fault. This was a turnover from the prior shift. I was not familiar with this machine so I found the manuals and prints to troubleshoot the problem. I was able to determine that the only way to clear the fault was to relief the excess pressure. I located the pressure relief valve on the hydraulic schematic. This is a very large machine, going from the basement to the second floor level. After an intensive search, I located the valve on the side of the inside of the machine. It was a globe valve that I was able to turn to relieve the pressure. This resulted in the signal being removed from the input, allowing the machine to operate.
Maintenance Tech 2
Repair and Preventative Maintenance of food packaging machines, cookers, ovens, fast backs, conveyor systems, mixers, and food processing machines.A machine that I worked on here was a dough shuttle. The machine had been down for a few days prior to it being turned over to me. The machine would run to one side and continue running until the motor faulted out. I was able to determine that the encoder was malfunctioning. The encoder had an A channel, B channel, and a Z homing pulse. When channel A is the leading edge, the shuttle will travel one direction. When Channel B is the leading edge, the shuttle will travel in the other direction. I was able to determine through voltage checks that Channel A signal was not being sent to the PLC. I traced the cable back until I found a broken wire inside of a cannon plug. I resoldered the wire to get the shuttle working properly.
