Our group has a great interest in the role of B cells in cancer and has established together with others that:B cells…1….present antigen, prime T cells and home to SLO2...can be activated and expanded longterm with stable purity and function 3...can be used to dissect anti tumor T cell responses & identify novel tumor antigens4...play a central role in proinflammatory conditions5…can be used in ACT to cure cancer & viral disease6.…are organized in intratumoral TLS and mediate tumor control 7…play a promoting role in ICB8…can be inhibitory cells and thus can function as targets in the TME9…mediate several effector functions e.g. direct cell death, adcc, acpp, cdc10…are master regulators of immunity OUR GOALS ARE:I. To develop B cell ACT & in vivo B cell engineering II. To understand role of B cells in TME and develop approaches to better diagnose and treat cancerTo this end we founded several academic consortia and TABBY THERAPEUTICS to bring forward our vision in an internationally powerful network and also ITOC (www.itoc.eu) as a leading exchange platform to promote cellular cancer immunotherapy.—————————————————As oncologists with expertise in immunology, critical care and infectious disease we have also founded:iCHOP (intensive Care of Hematology and Oncology Patients) and Nine-I (Caring for the Critically Ill Immunosuppressed Cancer Patients),two nationally|internationally leading consortia that conduct to research concerning and develop management strategies of critically ill cancer patients e.g. immune based therapies.___________________________However, basic, translational and clinical research alone will never meet the goal to fully prevent unnecessary cancer deaths . To this end we have joined forces with a great group of friends, dedicated people and leaders from fields of cancer medicine, science, biotech, medtech, big pharma , media, patient organizations, politics and other stakeholders in cancer care to found the think tank Vision Zero (www.vision-zero-oncology.de) as a national movement to join forces across society and do whatever it takes to prevent cancer deaths!!!
