He is responsible for all Army policy and doctrine in regards to the Engineer Diving force. He works closely with the Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Marine Diving elements to ensure that the Department of Defense has a well trained and capable military diving force. The position oversees all personnel moves between the 6 Engineer Dive teams and the school house (150+ positions). The CDS conducts regular update briefings to General Officers and Federal Agencies in regards to Engineer Diving capabilities, missions, and needs. He works with equipment developers to identify the safe and effective dive equipment that will meet the needs of the wartime commanders.
