Hey, I'm Michael.I am currently enrolled in my 3rd year at McMaster University pursuing a bachelor of technology (automotive and vehicle engineering technology). I am very proud to have been accepted into the Golden Key International Honour Society for my academic achievements at McMaster University. From a very young age, cars have always been my passion. From experimenting with my own setups and tuning in Simulations to even being able to experience it in real life, making cars faster, better, and stronger for the future is my dream. I believe my experiences at McMaster will help carve my path to pursue this dream. I knew right from the get-go of high school, Focusing on this goal requires many applicable skills. I demonstrated a proficiency in STEM related courses throughout the entirety of high school, all while being heavily involved in my Croatian Folklore group. Here, I had the opportunity to lead 20 to 30 kids, teaching them about their culture and even performing it locally, and internationally. I too, was involved in the senior group at the parish, where we rehearse and perform complex pieces many times a year, to show audiences, peers, and relatives that our culture still holds great value to us and future generations. Apart from the cultural experiences, these years were a great learning experience to me to help me develop leadership, coachability and team building. My experiences at Halton Region were very important to me as in this intern role, I was given the opportunity to explore the automotive world from the administrative side as well as the hands on world. In this position I was truly made a valued member of the team and I am very grateful to have been entrusted with more responsibilities as I progressed in the role. From upkeeping customer relations, to accurately processing 500 work orders and other financial documents, to analyzing vehicle ledger data, creating reports for my manager and even pioneering a new vehicle scheduling operations plan to then demonstrate to my sub-foreman and supervisor, I experienced all aspects of the organization's operations. On top of this, I had the experience of learning the functionalities of different car part assembly systems via info sessions from the technicians themselves. They also gave me an opportunity to analyze engineering design flaws in modern vehicles which I find an asset as a future automotive engineer or CAD designer. All of these opportunities gave me a chance to strengthen my initiative, leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
