Lead engineer in development of Arc Resistant Switchgear. Including design of mechanical components and all high power testing. Developed a mathematical estimating formula for approximating the overpressures associated with internal arcing faults in switchgear. Ongoing work with the University of Chicago electrical trauma research group to evaluate the effects of exposure to electrical arc faults and methods to mitigate these effects.Designed auxiliary devices used in 27kV and 38kV Switchgear Equipment incorporating an automatic grounding switch. Received a patent for the design. The project involved extensive use of electrical field analysis to optimize the component shapes and ultimately reduce the size of the auxiliary device and its housing.Developed a portable automated test set for AC voltage testing vacuum integrity for all Powell vacuum circuit breakers.Developed ISO9001 certification procedures for the Engineering department.Lead engineer for Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listing of High Resistance Grounding devices and Arc Resistant Switchgear. Liaison to UL on all issues concerning medium voltage products.Experience in all phases of high power, dielectric, thermal and mechanical testing of medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear and related equipment.

Developed 18 point QA program for the circuit breaker manufacturing facility. Experience with 1E Nuclear QA program.

Responsible for design and product line maintenance of all MV circuit breakers and switches manufactured by the facility.
