  Walsh's Pharmacy is a family-run business in the picturesque seaside town of Warrenpoint. Michael's father established a pharmacy in the town in 1969, and he literally grew up in the business as the family home is situated above the shop.He is passionate about health promotion, and expanding the role of pharmacy in public health. This is evident in a number of successful projects he has been involved in. These include several men’s health initiatives, a walk and talk group, and cancer awareness campaigns. His level of commitment was recognised with several awards for health promotion, including the Uk's top stop smoking advisor.Through his involvement in smoking cessation his career has developed, resulting to in many speaking and lecturing engagements. He has written extensively on the subject and has sat on advisory panels to pharma. “Health promotion is the cornerstone of our business strategy. To me, health promotion is an everyday task. It is about being visible at the front of shop, making yourself available to customers and encouraging them to ask questions or seek advice I cannot compete with the buying power of the multiples, therefore for my business to survive I have to rely on my reputation. Health promotion, involvement in the local community, and projecting a professional image all lead to enhancing this reputation.
