Michael has more than 35 years experience in Architecture.He started with AHR in 1989 in the Birmingham office having studied at Birmingham School of Architecture. He completed his RIBA ptII qualification at Demontfort University. Progressing to Architect to Associate to Director and Partner by the age of 32 His early career included a wide variety of projects in the retail, residential, commercial, health and pharmaceutical sectors. Most notable during this period was the design and delivery of the European Logistics Centre in the Netherlands for Amgen, the world’s largest independent biotechnology firm.In 2002, Michael relocated to the South West and led the development of our AHR’s Bristol office. Here he expanded the practices experience in the education sector leading PFI, BSF and Academy schools projects across the region. Michael was Project Director for Nailsea School and for Writhlington School, which won the “Best UK Secondary School” award from BCSE in 2012.In 2009, he moved to the London office becoming Managing Director in 2011. Since being in London Michael has focused on Masterplanning, Mixed Use, Residential and Transportation. Leading projects across the Middle East and in Kazakhstan as well as in London, including the passenger interchange for Terminal 2 at Heathrow.Michael served on the Main Board for many years and previously led the Practice’s Marketing & Business development initiatives. He coordinated the Practice sector groups and led the Transport sector. Michael was directly involved in the development of AHR since 2002 from the initial merger to form Aedas, it's growth to one of the largest international Practices in the world and then the de-merger in 2014. Following which he formulated to acquisition of PCKO and it's transition into AHR.With a keen interest in the continued development of London as a leading international City, Michael has been a member of the London Chamber of Commerce Property and Construction committee and representative of the Practice as a member of the City Property Association. He also is a member of the RIBA Major Practices committee.
