I am a freelance transport professional working as an independent transport consultant. I have recently retired from my full time position as Head of Public Transport Regulation for the National Transport Authority in Ireland. In the 12 years with the Authority I have been instrumental in the implementation of significantly improved public transport services across the state including subsidised bus and rail services and licensed commercial bus and coach services. Prior to the establishment of the National Transport Authority, I spent 8 years working with the Dublin Transportation Office and two years working as an Independent Transport Consultant in the UK providing a wide range of services to the bus and coach industry, local authorities and consultancy firms. My previous 24-year career was as a highly motivated and successful Professional Manager and Company Director in the competitive and demanding UK bus and coach industry with 11 years’ experience in the latter role covering a broad spectrum of management functions. The experience I have gained throughout my career enables me to understand and appreciate transportation issues from a number of different perspectives at both a detailed and a strategic level thus allowing an informed and balanced view. I am equally at home working in either the public or private sector having gained considerable experience in both. This experience also enables me to communicate effectively at all levels.I am now available to offer extensive help and advice to individual public transport companies, transport authorities and to act as a sub-consultant to larger consultancies on a wide range of public transport projects.
