I am a UCT BSc MechEng graduate with six years formal work experience. Three years in an FMCG plant as a process engineer, then the production planner and finally as the planning executive. Three years as a design and implementation engineer in an HVAC/Fire/Wet Services consulting engineering office, where I was working towards my professional engineer’s registration. Before that I worked as an intern engineer for a world leading start-up, fly-for-feed factory in the emerging mass insect rearing industry, on the design and commissioning of the HVAC system for fly and larva production. Prior to that I spent a year broadening my education, backpacking around the world with a colleague from University. Over the three years in the food industry, I gained experience streamlining plant equipment, line commissioning, logistics, people management, managing stock and raw material procurement, balancing engineering and business drivers, site management, customer supplier relations, budgeting and report writing. In the HVAC industry, I have experience in building revamps, on large buildings with existing chilled water HVAC systems, requiring heat-load calculations, HVAC design, piping and plant room designs with the designs required to meet SANS codes. I am proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks. Within the fire ambit I am familiar with smoke extract and pressurisation systems and wet services designs, including hot water plant design, pipe design and reticulation. Prior to commencing my profession, I have participated at a high level in various sports, representing South Africa at a number of events, which has enhanced my love of nature, a healthy lifestyle and taught me valuable life skills. I have well-developed, practical, engineering skills. I thrive in a challenging environment and would like to be employed helping provide workable solutions to the pressing environmental challenges we face on the planet.
