Primary responsibility was management of the software engineering department, including the management of a globally distributed engineering team consisting of direct reports as well as multiple contract engineering groups. Managed and participated in efforts to design, implement, test, and roll out software systems from embedded systems to PC software. The software is used in high-pressure systems for process control, automation, and data acquisition. The PC software has been written in C and C++ using Borland's C Builder, CLX, and more recently in .Net C++/C#. Integration of in house hardware drivers with third party PC software has been accomplished using MFC and Microsoft COM technology. The embedded systems have been written in C and assembly for Motorola processors and Automation Direct PLC ladder logic.Additional responsibilities included working directly with customers, or through field service, sales personnel and distributors for the purpose of system demos, installations, training, onsite service and customer care and relationship management. This included a large amount of foreign and domestic travel.Earlier responsibilities included planning, managing, and participating in the implementation of IT projects and managing day to day IT processes, as well as implementing engineering, manufacturing and QC processes.

Responsibilities included Developing windows and Internet based multi-media software packages using C++/C in conjunction with Microsoft’s Visual Studio 97, Macromedia’s Director 6, Director 7, and Authorware 4, and Java. Experience was also gained using MFC, VB script, Visual Basic, and sql.Other responsibilities included system (NT/Linux), network, and pc support as well as installing, configuring and supporting a Linux web server.
