Purchasing/SourcingAs purchaser or buyer, my main responsibility is to bring in the right product, at the right time, at the right price. However, in addition to this, I also have to source new products for unique projects that come our way. As well, searching for better solutions to our current processes and products take up much of my time. Equally important is developing positive relationships with my many suppliers. In a lot of ways, strong supplier relations are just as or even more important than better pricing. Inventory Management, Shipping/ReceivingI have to maintain a comprehensive inventory for several departments at Stubbe's Precast. The ideal is to keep the proper stock levels at any available time while minimizing over stock as much as possible. This can be very challenging given the extremely fast pace of the pre-cast world. I also oversee the shipping/receiving department. While most of our shipped product is taken care of by our Installations department and our carrier, I take care of the smaller LTL or courier shipments. As well, I supervise the receiving of all products and ensure they are brought to the right department and organized in the proper way.

At Jake's Welding, I started as a general labourer quickly becoming a qualified welder. I moved into the Mobile Welding department of the business and after a short time took over the lead position. We did much of our work in the Agricultural market, designing and welding together cattle penning, cattle control facilities, robotic milking exit/entry systems, milking parlour exit/entry systems and manure handling systems. Much of this work was extremely complex and had to be done with close consultation with the customers and barn designers.

I worked as a general laborer for Fallowcrest Holsteins throughout my high school years. I left Fallowcrest as a lead hand. My responsibilities involved ensuring proper cow care and comfort such as bedding, feeding, milking, etc. I also had to ensure proper care of the calves. Other duties I was involved in included field work (plowing, cultivating, manure spreading, harvesting, etc), heavy machinery maintenance, general farm maintenance, cattle health (applying medications, calf birth, etc.)I believe the extremely strong work ethic required when working in this field is what prepared me so well for my future occupations and since that work ethic was instilled so deeply at an early age, it will always be a part of who I am.
