About Michael Wendlandt
Currently, I am a researcher at InnoTech Alberta in the Environmental Impacts division with a focus on applying isotopic and geochemical tracers to solve complex hydrological and ecological issues impacting Albertans. Graduated from the University of Calgary, Biological Sciences (MSc) with a focus in ecology. My research focused on applying novel isotope and geochemical tracers to infer water budgets of 80 newly formed wetlands within the boreal forest over two years. I graduated with a BSc. in Environmental Science from Mount Royal University in 2020 on the president's honour roll. During my undergrad, I found a passion for aqueous chemistry, water management and science communication, working as a research assistant under Dr. Nwaishi. I also chaired the Mount Royal University chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association - Canadian Prairies and Northern Section (MRU CPANS) for two years, which saw unprecedented growth in student membership and engagement with industry professionals seminars. Before attending university, I applied my mechanic and electrical skills as a Journeyman red seal instrumentation technician for eight years in the Alberta energy sector.
