G’day, I’m Michael, and I look after Claims at Howden Insurance Brokers Australia. Like many insurance industry professionals, I fell in to insurance. While looking for an office based job, I ended up working in a call centre at AAMI. There I gained tonnes of experience in customer relations, sales, underwriting, and ultimately claims. I looked after personal motor and home insurance claims, and began my interest in how to help customers on a product they buy, but hope to never use. After joining Echelon Claims Services, I was able to gain knowledge in so many different classes of insurance, and never shied away from jumping in to something new, to broaden my exposure and experience. This always kept my days interesting, I never knew what type of claim would come through the door next. With this cross class experience, I’ve made fantastic connections with clients, service providers and professional experts across the industry, relationships that I genuinely treasure.I’ve been managing claims now for a long time, but I keep doing it because I love being able to assist people in their time of need. I know how upsetting, frustration and inconvenient having to make a claim can be, so I always strive to make sure the process is as painless as possible.Outside of managing claims, I’m a huge Formula 1 fan, usually trying to catch every session during a race weekend, and have a keen interest in Civil Aviation (I think the term is Av-Geek).
