Joined Geotechnical Instruments in 1980, spent the early years manufacturing instrumentation used in measurements of Civil Engineering projects. Able to progress in a short space of time and travel the world to install instruments on many prestigious projects especially in Asia where I resided for some three years. Upon my return to the UK was in control of many similar construction projects. during this time I was able to understand more about the subsurface geology which has further helped in my progression.Working with QED as a distributor, I was able to develop my skills in the remediation sector by the design and building of many treatment systems used in the fuel oil and water industry to look into extraction and separation of contaminants from the subsurface. due to progression of the company we diversified more into the Environmental space and through engineering developments designed and built the first portable gas analysers especially used in the Landfill industry. This gave us a link offering both gas measurement and liquids (leachate) extraction which became important in meeting landfill compliance. With this I was also able to design and assist in instigating the installation of liquid extraction and systems.
