I am a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins. While PhDs are often thought to be highly specialized, my work at Hopkins has crossed into many domains and disciplines. I have gained expertise in applying my engineering skills to a variety of problems and quickly absorbing the information of a given field to generate impactful work. This has fostered my passion for cross-disciplinary work in team-based environments.This passion has also been developed through my work in student government. As the Co-Chair of the JHU Graduate Representative Organization (which serves over 3,000 graduate students) I have learned to work with and manage a diverse team with a variety of student-facing programming iniatives. Likewise, I have learned how to incorporate feedback from a multitude of viewpoints to ensure we are meeting student needs.As I am close to finishing my doctoral degree, I am excited to find opportunites to apply my leadership, collaboration, and research skills in cross-disciplinary settings. I am pursing postions in cross-disciplinary research teams, science policy, non-profit research, and higher education adminstration and I am confident both my collaborative, interdisciplinary research expertise and my leadership and management experience will make me an ideal candidate for any of these roles.
