At the time of hire, the Waterville Township Police Department was in danger of being shut down. The department was losing money annually due to overspending, officer morale was at an all-time low, and community perception of the department was unfavorable. The task at hand was to re-invigorate the department, rebalance the budget, and improve community relations. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: • Completely restructured the police department budget to take it from a deficit of nearly $60,000 in 2011 to a surplus in 2012. • Implemented a new officer training program at minimal cost to the township in 2013. • Increased officer patrol in the township, resulting in a notable crime reduction. • Greatly improved officer morale and increased community interactions. • Garnered community support to pass a recurring tax levy that secured future funding for years to come.
