My current role is the head of estate and facilities on a 1000-hectare site which compromises of >200 buildings (technical and domestic). I am responsible for full gamut of total facilities management with several industrial partners – VIVO, ESS, MITIE and Babcock HADES: planning, monitoring, assurance, managing budgets, utilities, reactive & preventive maintenance (SFG 20 compliance), environmental standards & achieving targets, contract delivery and implementation (against KPIs) and daily management of a large multi-skilled team (Service Personnel, Civil Service and contractors).I am also head of SHEF for Security for MOD Lyneham a complex and challenging garrison which has different sites to manage with the added complexity of operational units mixing with Phase 2 training establishment. I need to make sure all 15 organisations that make up MOD Lyneham are secure and safe in accordance with statutory compliance and MOD policy.I oversee the running costs of the site, which is in the region of £2.5M per annum, engaging with key stakeholders and contractors daily, reporting to multiple senior managers on a weekly and monthly basis. I’m responsible for ensuring MOD Lyneham is ready for the 15 different type of assurance regimes (Inc 2nd Party & 3rd Party) that assess/inspect a fully operational Defence estate. I'm responsible for the mgmt and assurance of all logistic material accounting of over £350M in technical equipment to support the delivery of technical training and operations. Aldershot, Hampshire

I was responsible for managing, leading, planning, directing and forming small engineering audit teams from 9 different sites in the UK to deliver Land Equipment Audits (LEA) across the full breadth of the UK and for all Army and Royal Marines units operating overseas (permanent bases or operations). These teams consisted of Hybrid Workforce (mixture of Civil Servants and Service Personnel) and were deep subject matter exports in weapons, vehicles electronics, lifting and recovery equipment, medical and dental and communication equipment. I, or my appointed lead auditor highlighted to the CEO and non-compliance with respect to breaches in of legal regulations and/or non-conformance against Defence Policy. Part of the assessment includes assisting and advice to the CEO to reduce the risk and to put a plan in place the rectify the Areas of Non-Compliance/Conformance, identify further observations for continuous improvement and draw out any good/best practice.As a Lead Auditor I conducted the larger, more complex and overseas Audits. I audited the management, inspection, and maintenance criterion of their held equipment. As part of the assessment remit was the production of an Audit Report on each establishment’s performance, risk management and control measures and recommended improvements.As the LEA Commander, I reviewed all LEA reports (c500 pa), highlighting errors and omissions and was the arbitrator for any challenges or concerns raised by the CEO. The generated assurance was distributed to the Army’s Chief Engineer and the Defence Land Safety Regulator (where warranted) for information, risk mitigation action as part of the Engineering Assurance framework for the Army. It was directed that all the LEA cease travel to all engineering establishments during the COVID-19 restricted period. Due to the legislative and Risk to Life criterion audited by LEA, I needed to design, devise, plan and execute delivery of Remote Audits to meet statuary requirements.

Head of engineering operations for a General Support (GS) Artillery organisation. In this capacity, I lead and co-ordinated the delivery of hands-on training to regimental personnel, administration of equipment care and maintenance to deliver GS Air Defence (AD) capability for the UK.Developed a bespoke trend analysis model tool with my Lead Quality Assurance Engineers to regain operational effectiveness and capability. Analysis identified that equipment maintenance while being carried out to exacting standards, was insufficient to sustain the operational tempo, without a change in ethos to ownership, pride, priorities and empowerment. I developed and implemented inventory control practices and procedures to ensure the correct ranging/scaling of stock was always available to ensure equipment was available at the right time, in the right quantity and the right condition. I planned, organised, designed individual training pathways for an engineering workshop of 90 Engineers and Logisticians to improve productivity and reliability/availability. By utilising these initiatives and actions availability of platforms increase by >30%.Responsible for the maintenance, repair, modification of a fleet of 800 vehicles and eqpt of one of the largest and complex Independent Workshop’s in the British Army. Project managed simultaneous complex engineering operations to meet the UK’s very high readiness commitment to NATO. Agile thinking and data informed operational planning enabled the empowerment of multi-skilled engineers and logisticians to hit pressing business targets to support the only GS AD Regt in the British Army.This appointment provided many challenges including successfully managing the disposal of the aging Rapier AD fleet and bringing in the all-new state of the art Sky Sabre AD System (£200M) into service.I directed HR Management, personnel development, and training to achieve business success in the Middle East, South Atlantic, Eastern Europe and in the UK.

I was a Military Staff Officer (Major) responsible for the SE of England and Brunei. I provided all aspects of Equipment Support to the Senior Executive commander. This included input all operational planning that saw the >1500 soldiers deploy to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sudan with all their associated equipment in concert. Prior to this large-scale deployment all Brigade equipment was held a very high readiness levels (48hrs ready to move) and deployed overseas to Germany, Kenya, Greece, and Macedonia and conducted countless exercises/manoeuvres in the UK.I was responsible for given Engineering Assurance and Advice to my own Senior Engineers Managers and ensuring that all engineering activity was safety compliant in line with legislation and policy. I was responsible for the planning, prioritising forecasting and delivery of outputs of Babcock In Barracks Equipment Support Workshop in Aldershot for all the units in SE of England for numerous formations in Defence: JHC, 3XX, 1XX, FTC and StratCom.I provided function control and technical direction and evaluation to all Army engineering personnel within our area of responsibility. This included providing career management and appraisal writing with the command structure. This role was all encompassed engineering assurance through technical audits against the Units Mission and Mission Essential Tasks, Engineering Management System, their Standing Operating Procedures/processes and KPIs.As the Senior Engineer Officer and authority for Brunei Garrison, I had to deliver countless assurance visits to ensure the garrison engineering facilities and equipment were functioning in safe and compliant manner, aligned to UK legislation and MOD Policy.

Designed, planned, prepared and executed a £166M project to relocate the Corps Headquarters and 2 Defence Schools from two ageing sites to a refurbished and new build site at MOD Lyneham.• Designed the future use of MOD Lyneham with the Architects Scott Brownrigg and saw this through to construction with Kier and Balfour Beatty under the auspices of Hercules Joint Venture.• Chaired and presented at CEO and Vice President level meetings with our industrial partners – Kier and Balfour Beatty.• Drove achievement of challenging deliverables across time, cost and performance; prioritising flexibly to meet fast changing needs and constantly switching roles without pause. • Successfully negotiated >70 fundamental changes to the original site plan and a further 250 changes to balance engineering and aviation training needs, lived experience/environment changes against significant budgetary constraints. • Planned and executed the volumetric assessment of items/assets where to be moved to MOD Lyneham from Arborfield and Bordon with Swains and Sons. Then subsequently tracked and receipted over 220,000 items and 19,000 assets with 600+ articulated vehicles covering a distance of >54,000 miles over 19 weeks.• Developed the Soft FM Contract (HESTIA) for MOD LYN was fit for purpose to enable and maintain technical and domestic operations for >2500 people.

An Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Manager and Through life Support Officer – responsible for the identification of coherent support solutions for emerging/new equipment & capability to Defence, assisting project teams in the preparation of Investment Board proposals. Once I completed my apprenticeship, I quickly promoted through the ranks, completed my 18-month Artificer Training and went on to reach Warrant Officer Class 1 in 2005, where I assumed the role as the Artificer Sergeant Major (ASM) of 1 Highlanders LAD in Fallingbostel, Germany.Commissioned in Apr 2007, I went on to command 7 Transport Regiment LAD (Workshop) the biggest First Line Workshop in Germany, split between 2 locations: Bielefeld and Fallingbostel.Served in the UK, Germany, Cyprus and Canada throughout this period, deployed to a number of Middle Eastern countries, the Balkans, Africa, Falkland Islands, Eastern Europe and SE Asia.
