I am a leading public law, environment, planning, approvals, and land access lawyer. My focus is working with all levels of government to promote good decision making and defending decisions once made. I also work with major utilities, energy companies, developers and other private entities. I lead the Maddocks' Sydney office Public Law practice and I am also head of the NSW Local Government practice.I appear in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal; New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal; the Land & Environment Court (including as an advocate) in development appeals, criminal and civil enforcement and compulsory acquisition matters; NSW Supreme Court in judicial review matters; Queensland Supreme Court in Environmental matters; the Federal Court in environmental matters. I also have a significant Native Title Practice and am currently acting for the Warrabinga Wiradjuri in its Native Title Claim in the Federal Court as well as acting for aboriginal land councils and other indigenous groups and nations.I am recommended by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2023) guide for my work in Environment & Planning, and Native Title.I am the Chair of the council of St Andrew's Cathedral School in Sydney and Gawura (a School for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children).I am also the Chair of the Horizons Family Law Centre, which provides free legal support to those most in need, with the purpose of helping families in crisis remake themselves.
